Eight Treasure tea

Eight Treasure tea ( Ba Bao Cha ) is a legendary component in Sichuan tea drinking culture. The number 8 is symbolic for the many ingredients that make up the tea, of which there are actual tea leaves, dried chinese herbs and fruit as well as small pieces of rock sugar. The resulting tea is a wonderful and balanced sweet blend that is especially fitting for drinking alongside hot and spicy Sichuan food! The tea is traditionally served in Gaiwans (lidded cups) and constantly refilled by skilled servers wielding meter long neck pots of boiling water while putting on a show of dangerous dancing and courage.
