Tan Yang black tea was first introduced in 1851 and it was mainly exported to European countries. This is one of Fu Jian province's three famous Gongfu teas (the two others are Zheng He and Bai Lin). It was named after the place of its origin - Tan Yang Village, and has won several awards over the years such as:

* Gold Medal in Panama Pacific International Exposition (Year 1915)

* Chinese Famous Black Tea Gold Medal Honor in the Third Chinese Culture Propaganda (Year 2008)

* Gold Medal Honor in the Fifth Fu Jian Tea Cup Competition (Year 2008)

In addition, Tan Yang black tea was selected by Diao Yu Tai State Guesthouse as China's Gift Tea for international VIPs in political and economic fields in October 2005, and again in 2008 by the Beijing Olympic Economic Research Association.

Jing Zhi means "Refined" grade. This grade is rarely found outside of China. It is processed using carefully selected tea leaves picked in early spring season.

Other names:

Panyang Refined Congou, Tan Yang Jing Zhi Gongfu

Taste:

The fragrance of the dried leaves is quite reminiscent of smoked bacon but once infused, the tea has a nice and strong rose-like floral sweetness which gradually strengthens after a few sips.

Appearance:

Loosely twisted golden black tea leaves and buds. Clean amber red color infusion.

Origin:

Fu An Shi, Fujian Province, China

Harvest Period:

Spring 2015

Brewing Guide

1. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water.

2. Use about 3 grams of tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 95°c (203°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing.

3. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

* We suggest you can use purple clay or porcelain tea ware. If you like milk with your tea, add 10 ml to 15ml of sweetened/plain dairy milk and stir.

It is to my eternal shame that i reviewed this tea so poorly last time. All i an do is apologise and say i dont know where my head was! I recently unearthed my 50g sample of this tea a few weeks ago, literally couldnt think of anything else to drink tha night, and i was blown over by how perfectly presented the smoky and fruity flavours of this tea are. It is an amazing tea, i especially like latter infusions 4-5 they pick up this insanely moorish fruity astringency which just makes you want to gobble the cup down after it! As i say beautiful glorious tea, I really have no clue why i missed this the first time.

This is my favorite black tea IN THE WORLD. 100% worth the price... unlike anything youve ever tasted before. Not bitter, not sweet, not dry. Just perfect. Worth every penny and soo unique and beautiful.

Amazing aroma, but for me thats where the story ends. This is without doubt the most forgettable China black i have had in the last few years, its a shame because the smell promised so much. I love ChineseTeaArts keemun xian zhen and frankly i dont see the point in drinking this when i could be drinking that lol. I apologise to any fans this tea may have .

A lovely tea indeed. The taste is pure, direct, non-assuming but not bashful either... It is hard to describe in terms of taste, although the scent of the brewed tea is indeed floral. If other teas are a slight rumble in the distance, this tea is the sudden shock of a Zen master striking his staff on the ground. Direct, true, pure.
