Originating from Ting Xi Village located in southern An Hui province, Lan Xiang tea is one of An Hui province's Top 10 Famous Tea along with other great teas such as Tai Ping Hou Kui, Lu An Gua Pian and Huang Shan Mao Feng. "Lan Xiang" means Orchid Fragrant, a beautiful name it owes to its naturally sweet orchid-like aroma and taste. Tin Xi Lan Xiang is created based on the highest grading standards. When Deng Xiao Ping (late leader of the Communist Party of China) tasted Ting Xi Lan Xiang for the first time, he made this remark: "This is a good tea that I will be drinking regularly. It is comparable to the best Huang Shan Mao Feng and Xi Hu Long Jing".

Other names:

Ting Xi Orchid, Ting Xi Kui

Taste:

Ting Xi Lan Xiang yields cups of very smooth tea with nutty and sweet orchid-like floral aroma. The after taste is floral sweet which lingers in your mouth after a few cups. Later infusions have hints of creamy taste. Refreshing and delicious.

Appearance:

One-bud-one-leaf with long and narrow shape which resembles tiny needle.

Origin:

Ting Xi, An Hui Province, China

Harvest Period:

Spring 2015

Brewing Guide

1. We suggest you can use glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Then rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water.

2. Use about 3 grams of tea leaves (2-3 teaspoons) for every 200ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing.

3. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

This is a pleasant drink with fruity tones on the first infusion. The scent is especially pleasing on the first brew as well. This tea seems to aid digestion well.

Love on first sip. Wonderful tea. I felt like ordering immediately again. Taste lingers on for hours. Water temperature should be kept medium high. Finger test in absence of a thermometer: when it first hurts.

Not a bad tea, but not very impressive either. The flavor seems kind of generic to me.

Decent green tea but nothing special compared to the large number of green teas offered by CTA. Only try this one if you're bored with the others.

This is special rare green tea from Anhui. The taste is complex fresh with strong aroma of smokey bamboo. This is reasonable price tea, but can be brewed 5 times.

Great for those who love wulong and baozhong (pouchong) teas. Has similar qualities in a green tea. Complex, with a lasting finish and abundant aroma. Smooth and floral.

a pleasant taste, the temperature for brewing was higher than other years crops. When brewing with a higher temperature, I was only able to get one infusion per gwain.
