Cha Wang (Tea King) is our highest grade Tai Ping Hou Kui tea, where only the finest and perfectly crafted tea leaves are selected. This tea has won many awards, the most recent being the "King of Tea" award in China Tea Exhibition 2010. Our Cha Wang Tai Ping Hou Kui is from Hou Keng village, located at the foothill of Tai Ping county. In the same way that Xihu area is known to produce the best Long Jing, Hou Keng village is where the highest grade of Hou Kui is produced.

Other names:

Tea King Monkey Chief, Tea King Monkey King, Tea King Monkey tea

Taste:

The taste is wonderfully complex. It has a smooth mouthfeel, taste nutty at first sip and the sweetness of this tea slowly reveals itself as you continue to drink it. The liquor also has a lingering, sweet aftertaste with a hint of flowery overtones.

Appearance:

The tea leaves are fully hand-crafted and truly a sensational work of art. They are huge, flat and have criss-cross pattern on them. Only similar size tea leaves are selected and then perfectly crafted until they can easily stack on top of one another.

Origin:

Hou Keng Village (Tai Ping County), An Hui Province, China

Harvest Period:

Spring 2015

Brewing Guide

1. We suggest you can use glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Then rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water.

2. Use about 3 grams of tea leaves (2-3 teaspoons) for every 200ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing.

3. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

still excellent freshly aromatic tea, my favorite. but the price is to expensive.

I'm not satisfied by this tea, but probably I was not able to brew it correctly... bytheway it's flavor is truly particular, it resemble marine algae!!!

This one really is a tea king--some Tai Ping Hou Kuis I've tried had small, often powdered leaves at the bottom of the bag. Not this one--all the leaves are 2-3 inches long and full of flavor. This tea is really mild but subtly rewarding as well; you just have to tinker a bit with brewing amount/time before you find your favorite combination. It's worth splurging a bit and buying the really nice one, at least to try in comparison.

This is just lovely green tea. There is a nuttiness and a slightly floral undertone. Not very vege or grassy for green tea. The true beauty is in the silky smoothness of this green nectar. It is truly more than the sum of its parts.

This tea leaves a sweetness on your lips. A wonderful tea. I suggest chewing on al eaf after three infusions, Tha sweetness comes right through. One of the best green tea's I have drunk.

this is the best green tea that I have tasted. Taiping hou kui is my favorite green, and this is the best I have tried, the most beautiful tea leaves I have seen

The most surprising thing about this tea is how big it is -- the leaves are well over two inches long and have criss-cross pattern that reminds me of canned corn. The tea itself tastes very light, slightly sweet, and most refreshing. I'm sure that most of its subtleties are lost on my peasant taste buds, but what I am able to discern, I enjoy.

This full body green tea has a subtle aroma and lingers with sweet aftertaste. Seller was very thoughtful on the elongated packaging to not damage the tea leaves.

This is a wonderful tea that I believe is under rated. If you like drinking tea, you just have to try it!

This is a very good tea, however, the aroma is a little faint. Was hoping for much stronger scent.

Beautiful fresh large bright green artisanal leaves. The taste is smooth and full. The color is a gentle greenish-yellow. The taste is refreshingly clean but also very deep. No bitterness or harshness to the brew. Can be infused multiple times and not finicky about steeping time or water temperature. Highly recommended!

I have to say that this particular tea is in my top 3 best teas I have ever had. When we tried it we were astonished by a very noticeable taste of pineapple with a slight overtone of melon. Very sweet. I brewed it using a glass pitcher with a water temp of about 80 degrees.

I guess its the best tea I've ever had. I mostly drink different grades of Japanese green tea. I have had very good dragons well., but I like this better. Aroma, color, taste are all great. What makes this different is the psychoactive character. Mellow, tranquilizing, grounding, awesome head.
